Economic calendar

Every scheduled data release, rate decision and speech that can move markets — with the consensus forecast and the actual print side by side.

Markets do not move at random. Most of the big intraday swings in currencies, indices and commodities happen around scheduled economic events: an interest-rate decision, an inflation print, a jobs report, a central-bank speech. The economic calendar is simply the timetable of those events.

For every event the calendar shows three numbers that matter: the previous reading, the consensus forecast (what economists expect), and the actual figure once it is released. The market has usually already "priced in" the forecast — so what moves price is the surprise, the gap between actual and expected.

How to read it

  • Impact colour: high-impact events (red) are the ones most likely to move price — rate decisions, CPI, NFP, GDP. Low-impact items rarely matter on their own.
  • Forecast vs actual: a number far above forecast is a hawkish/positive surprise for that currency; far below is dovish/negative. The bigger the gap, the bigger the potential move.
  • Time zone: the widget shows times in your browser zone. Cluster your attention around the releases for the currencies you trade or hold.
  • Currencies: this calendar is filtered to AUD, BRL, CAD, CHF, CNY, EUR, GBP, JPY and USD — the majors plus the Brazilian real.

How to use it with ForecastingStocks

  • Check the calendar before opening a position. A model forecast that looks great can be invalidated minutes later by a surprise CPI or rate decision.
  • Avoid entering right before a high-impact release for a currency you are trading — spreads widen and volatility spikes.
  • Use it to explain the "why" behind a move: when the app flags an unusual swing, the calendar often holds the answer.
